Project Overview

Sidekick lets you take photos with your mobile device and send them to an Android Tablet Device where they can be managed and attached to spot issues with picking up waste.

Working alongside the CEO our main job was to look at the current workflow and improve it. The common problems we found where:

  1. The user could pair the devices through bluetooth but we wanted to find a solution to link the devices that was more efficient.

2. The current sidekick device had a clunky interface which wan’t user friendly and users where unsure whether it was connected or not.

3. The photos didn’t say the time when they were taken and there was no way for users to know which ones had been used.

Solutions

To connect the Sidekick photo device and the android tablet device we included a QR Code scanner.

Time was added underneath each photo and they are split between ‘New’ and ‘Used’. Our users like buttons so the ‘All’ and ‘None’ text has been changed to the buttons.

The Scan Code screen has been added when a user opens the app with illustrations and context about what to do. The status has been included once the scan is complete and the user can take a photo which get’s uploaded to the Android Tablet device.

Outcome

Users found that this was a huge improvement and connecting the tablet was smoother and easy with using the QR Code.
